I have always had a love affair with carbs - bread particularly. While on my honeymoon, I met a new love - artisan sourdough bread.

Bread in general has a bad reputation. There is a healthy (and insanely delicious) way to incorporate bread into your diet! Here are a few reasons you should enjoy, rather than feel guilty about, your next slice of sourdough:
Gut Healthy
Due to the natural fermentation process that sourdough goes through, the starch begins to breakdown before it even reaches your stomach. This makes it much easier for your body to digest!
Gluten-Sensitive
A loaf of my sourdough goes through a 24-hour process to create each loaf. This extended prep time breaks down much of the protein gluten into amino acids before you consume it. This is not a gluten-free option, but can aid if you have minor gluten sensitivities.
Healthy Bacteria
Once again, the extended fermentation process fosters beneficial bacteria that your body will appreciate!
Natural Process
Made with only flour, water, and salt, the origins of sourdough are very natural. Sourdough is one of the oldest forms of leavened bread.
Body Fuel
Sourdough fuels the production of good bacteria in your gut - much like nutrients found in onions, bananas, and garlic. It also contains a variety of vitamins and nutrients including iron, calcium, B-12, zinc, and more!
These benefits and more led to the start of my love for sourdough!
